Change Is My Gain is an educational grant project for incarcerated women in the Marion County Jail that is provided by KEY Consumer and sponsored by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction. Our Program Coordinator facilitates Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) and Self-Advocacy curriculum to the ladies in the jail and at Hope Hall.
At any given time, there are over 1,000 women inmates in Marion County Jails. It is estimated that 29.9% have mental health issues, and 75-80% have substance abuse issues that are directly related to their criminal behavior. Change Is My Gain teaches women in the jail how to self-advocate and make a plan for recovery. The program serves over 600 women per year.
